Brand taught me to decide. Product taught me to ship. I do both, on the same problem.
Seven years of positioning work, most of it through Atypikal, the studio I still run. Deciding what something should stand for, then holding that decision across every surface it touches.
Then a year on Gridwatch, next to the engineers who ran it. That is where I stopped handing over screens and started living with what happens to them afterwards.
Now I build the products myself. The interface decisions and the database migrations turn out to be the same decisions.
